To create the most fluid approach timing, concentrate on balancing your body and on creating a build up of momentum. Here are some elements to experiment with:
On your first step, bring the bowling ball back in alignment with your bowling arm side foot, concentrating on keeping it over the foot.
On your second step, let the ball swing back naturally. Forget about your feet and just feel the swing. It’s as if that foot concentration times the ball into it’s swing.
On your third step stay on your push off foot for a long time…waiting for the ball to come through.

Practice adjusting your speed to match the lane you’re bowling on. Cultivate speed control in more and more minute levels. Be able to pull a certain speed out like you were taking it out of your pocket. The theme is flexibility and the speed of your ball, swing, timing should have several settings. The more the better.

Practice walking left and walking right and having a straight walk. Practice open and closed shoulders. Practice adjusting speeds. Have at least three different approach timings. Practice playing different parts of the lane. Flexibility is power.
Cultivate three or four releases, all of which work well. For a stretch, intentionally put yourself in poor conditions and practice bowling well under them.

When the 10 pin (or 7 for left handers) is not snapping back but just flops into the channel …then you know it’s time to make an adjustment for carry down.
Carry down is the process that happens when oil moves from the heads (the first 15 feet of the lane) to the midlane (next 25 to 30 feet). The oil is stretched towards the pins by balls moving over the boards. Carry down will delay your balls hook into the pocket.
Ways to adjust:
1. Move your feet back a little from your regular starting position.
2. Move your starting position a little to the side.

Determine to have extraordinary master level concentration when you bowl. Remember that concentration is not holding your mind on one thing. It is directing your attention within a determined sphere of things. Thus… choose 3 to 5 to 7 things you wish to have your attention on when you bowl.
You can write them on a list and keep them in your pocket if you wish. Practice bowling for longer and longer periods of time with your attention moving from one of those things on your list to another.

Pick and use a few words and say them to yourself to trigger yourself to bowl ‘intuitively.’ Examples are ‘Trust’, ‘Let Go’, ‘now’, ‘It all comes together now’. As you say your phrase concentrate on your breathing or your heart beat.
In effect, you are conditioning yourself to enter a meditative state on cue, whereupon your skills and training from the past will simply come to the forefront automatically.

Adjust to conditions more quickly as you’re bowling. To do this, make the observations you noticed in Bowling Tip 28 more conscious. Practice making them conscious by saying them internally to yourself. Then make the adjustment you feel is best.
Mix this process with complete instinctive, intuitive bowling in which you’re not thinking at all. The result is a ying/yang type of analysis/intuitive blend that will keep you at your best more often.

TWO Nelson car dealers have jumped on board a police scheme to put the brakes on number plate theft.
Perry’s Peugeot and Walker Farrimond Citroen have signed up to support Pendle police’s “Safe Plates” initiative which involves the free fitting of tamper proof security screws to car number plates.
They are the first car dealerships in the country to sign up to the scheme which has seen more than 3,000 cars fitted with the special screws.
And the two dealers have promised to fit the security screws to all new vehicles and previous customers’ cars being serviced.

Keep your bowling towel folded. Use one side for your hand and one side for the ball. Do not mix them up or the oil from the ball will wind up on your hands. Pick up the ball with your non bowling hand to wipe it off. Never touch the oily side of the towel with your bowling hand.

Here are the four main points of reference:
The Foul Line:
The line where the ball is released.
The Dots:
The dots are located half way between the arrows and the foul line. There are two sets of dots. One on the right side of the lane and one on the left. The dots are located on boards 3, 5, 8, 11, and 14. On the other side of the lane, the dots are located on boards 26, 29, 32, 35, and 37.
The Arrows:
