To create the most fluid approach timing, concentrate on balancing your body and on creating a build up of momentum. Here are some elements to experiment with:

On your first step, bring the bowling ball back in alignment with your bowling arm side foot, concentrating on keeping it over the foot.

On your second step, let the ball swing back naturally. Forget about your feet and just feel the swing. It’s as if that foot concentration times the ball into it’s swing.

On your third step stay on your push off foot for a long time…waiting for the ball to come through.

Finally set your sliding foot underneath you as you release the ball and slide into your balanced delivery position.

Experiment with a short pre-step in which the ball stays almost motionless.

Count in a speeding up rhythm and cadence (1…2-3-4) in order to get yourself to start slowly on steps one and two …then speed up on steps three and four.

From Pacific Daily News

A former airport employee allegedly involved in a scheme to steal money from airport parking lot fees has agreed to plead guilty in the case.

Glen C. Fernandez, one of six former airport employees charged in the theft case, signed a plea agreement, of which Superior Court Judge Steven Unpingco received a copy yesterday morning.

…

If Unpingco accepts the agreement, Fernandez will repay the airport $6,000 and help the government prosecute cases against the other airport employees involved in the alleged scheme, said Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Moots. The employees are accused of collectively stealing $57,000 from the airport, according Superior Court of Guam documents.

…

The former airport employees were accused of making deals with tour bus operators so they could pocket some of the parking lot fees they charged the bus companies.

I come from the camp that theft though wrong, should NOT in general result in incarceration, a person stealing something should have to pay the person back plus punative damages (which could be community service rather than cash).

So in this case I think paying the airport parking company the money back is a sound decison. The airport also fired them, so crime didn’t pay this time and fortunately some petty white/blue collar ‘criminals’ who didn’t deserve time inside have the chioice to move on with their life on the straight and narrow rather than be forced into a life of crime by going to prison.

Call me liberal on this one

When the 10 pin (or 7 for left handers) is not snapping back but just flops into the channel …then you know it’s time to make an adjustment for carry down.

Carry down is the process that happens when oil moves from the heads (the first 15 feet of the lane) to the midlane (next 25 to 30 feet). The oil is stretched towards the pins by balls moving over the boards. Carry down will delay your balls hook into the pocket.

Ways to adjust:

1. Move your feet back a little from your regular starting position.

2. Move your starting position a little to the side.

3. Move your starting position back and to one side.

The key is to look for the lazy 10 (or 7) pin and when you see it…always adjust for carry down.

Determine to have extraordinary master level concentration when you bowl. Remember that concentration is not holding your mind on one thing. It is directing your attention within a determined sphere of things. Thus… choose 3 to 5 to 7 things you wish to have your attention on when you bowl.

You can write them on a list and keep them in your pocket if you wish. Practice bowling for longer and longer periods of time with your attention moving from one of those things on your list to another.

You can condition your consciousness to remain within a predetermined set of criteria. This is the true secret to concentration. Don’t make the mistake of trying to hold your mind in one place. It is not possible. The mind’s tendency is to move. Control the movement within the sphere (list) of things you choose!

When you notice your mind has wondered from your predetermined list of things, gently and uneventfully bring it back to one of the things on your list and simply put it back into motion on the list. The key here is GENTLY and UNEVENTFULLY.

Practice this, and before long, if they are not already doing so, people will comment on your extraordinary level of concentration. Guaranteed!

From www.burnleycitizen.co.uk

TWO Nelson car dealers have jumped on board a police scheme to put the brakes on number plate theft.

Perry’s Peugeot and Walker Farrimond Citroen have signed up to support Pendle police’s “Safe Plates” initiative which involves the free fitting of tamper proof security screws to car number plates.

They are the first car dealerships in the country to sign up to the scheme which has seen more than 3,000 cars fitted with the special screws.

And the two dealers have promised to fit the security screws to all new vehicles and previous customers’ cars being serviced.

The screws are designed to stop thieves stealing number plates and using them in crimes like driving off from petrol stations without paying.

…

He said: “Safe Plates was launched last April in response to a rise in number plate thefts and subsequent drive off offences at local petrol stations.

…

“The only real way to resolve the issue is to make sure that every new car has its number plate fitted with these special screws and, thanks to the support of Perry’s and Walker Farrimond here in Nelson, we’re now on our way towards achieving that.”

Now I’m all for anti-theft devices etc… and protecting your car number plates sounds like a good idea. However, I’ve seen the sort of screws they’ll use and it’s not that hard tog et hold of screwdrivers to remove them.

I’ve got a screwdriver set that has a lot of unussual shaped screw driver bits, so I bet one of those would fit. Will have to do some more research to see if I’m right.

So anyone want their number plates stealing this weekend
